	Description			:		Under the STEP Scheme, training is provided to the targeted beneficiaries with the following objectives:- 1 to enable groups of women to enhance their earning capacity by employment-cum-income generation programmes, 2 to train them in managerial entrepreneurship and marketing skill so that both backward and forward linkages can be established, 3 to help in asset formation in income generation and 4 to provide support services like legal awareness, gender sensitization, health, education etc. 5. Allocation for this schemes for the 12th five year plan is 200 Crores and allocation for financial year 2013-14 is 20 Crores

How to avail
	Eligibility Criteria			:		The Scheme is proposed to be implemented through Public Sector Organisations,
	How to avail			:		All the project proposals in the prescribed format under the STEP Scheme received from NGOs/ Federation/ Corporations are in the first instance required to be scrutinized by the State Level Empowerment Committee (SLEC) constituted in the States for this purpose. Based on the scrutiny, the State forwards all such proposals along with the recommendations of the SLEC to the Ministry for consideration.
